Important Things to Consider Before Coloring Your Hair

Are you considering coloring your hair for the first time? Or are you thinking about changing your hair color? Changing your hair color isn’t as simple as choosing a dye. There are several things you need to do before visiting a Boise hair salon to color your hair.

Rushing into this project could have some disastrous effects. With that said, the stylists at unDONE have prepared the following considerations you should take before you schedule your next hair appointment.

Do Your Research

Before you decide on a new hair color, do your research. Look through magazines and Pinterest for inspiration. Find pictures of people with similar skin tones and hair types as you have to get an idea of what the color will look like on you. When you’ve found a few colors you like, show your stylist pictures of the looks you’re interested in.

Another important thing to research is which Boise hair salon will give you the best results. Ask your friends or family members for recommendations. Read online reviews to get an idea of what other people’s experiences have been like.

At unDONE, our Boise hair salon stylists are here to help you personally with all your beauty needs. Not only will we take the time to get to know you by name, but we will also be more than happy to answer any questions you may have. You can also check out some of our most recent reviews from our clients. We’re confident that you’ll find your upcoming service with us valuable and completely worthwhile.

Schedule a Consultation

Once you’ve done your research, it’s time to schedule a consultation with your hairstylist. This is an important step because it will give you a chance to talk about the color you’re interested in and make sure it’s the right shade for you.

Your hairstylist will also be able to help you decide whether coloring your hair is the right decision for you. They can take a look at your hair and let you know if it’s healthy enough to withstand the chemicals in hair dye. If you have any questions or concerns, this is the time to ask them.

Tell the Colorist Exactly What You Want

When you’re at your consultation, or on the day of your hair appointment, be specific about the color you want. Show your hair colorist pictures of the looks you like. If you’re not sure what exact shade you want, that’s okay. But, it’s important to communicate what kind of look you’re going for.

For example, are you interested in natural-looking hair color? Or do you want something more dramatic? Once the colorist knows what kind of look you’re going for, they can help you choose the right shade.

Understand You May Have to Schedule Several Appointments

If you’re changing your hair color dramatically, you may have to schedule more than one appointment. For example, if you’re going from dark hair to blonde, the colorist may need to lighten your hair gradually to avoid damaging it.

In this case, you would schedule an initial appointment to lighten your hair. Then, you would wait a few weeks and schedule another appointment to add the blonde highlights or lowlights.

Understand that coloring your hair is a commitment. You will likely have to touch up your roots every four to six weeks. If you’re not ready for this kind of commitment, consider a different hairstyle.

Avoid DIY Permanent Dyes

Permanent hair dyes at the drugstore may be tempting, but we recommend avoiding them. These dyes can be damaging to your hair and they’re not always easy to use. If you’re still set on using a permanent hair dye, we recommend having a professional colorist do it for you. This way, you can avoid damage to your hair and ensure the color turns out the way you want it to.

Remember How to Care for Your Hair Afterwards

Once you’ve colored your hair, it’s important to take care of it properly. Be sure to use a shampoo and conditioner that is designed for color-treated hair. At unDONE, we recommend Davines MINU shampoo that is gently formulated to cleanse the hair while protecting color and keeping it shiny longer.

You may also want to use a deep conditioning treatment like Davines MINU hair mask once or twice a week to keep your hair healthy and hydrated. And, be sure to avoid using hot tools too often, as this can damage your hair.

Have Realistic Expectations

When it comes to coloring your hair, it’s important to have realistic expectations. The color you see in the hair color box is not always going to be the exact same color that ends up in your hair.

Your hairstylist will be able to mix the dye to create a shade that is similar to what you want, but it may not be an exact match. Also, keep in mind that your hair color will likely fade over time. You may also need to touch up your roots every four to six weeks or so. If you’re not prepared for this, you may want to consider a different hairstyle.

Remember You Can Change Your Hair Color

If you don’t like the color you’ve chosen or if you’ve colored your hair at home and you’re not happy with the results, remember that you can always change it. Simply schedule an appointment at unDONE t to correct the color. Keep in mind, however that coloring your hair is a commitment. But, if you don’t like the color, it’s not permanent. You can always change it until you find a color you love.

Breaking Down the Costs of Hair Color

How much you should pay for a hair color treatment is a complicated question. Many clients expect an exact number, and as Boise hair salon professionals, we wish it was that easy too! However, a wide variety of factors come to play before setting a dollar amount for an individual treatment. That’s why unDONE would like to break down the costs of hair color so that you can get a better idea of what to expect before booking a free consultation.

Cheap Salons Vs. Specialized Ones

As we mentioned above, many factors go into the cost of hair color. Think about it like ordering a meal at your favorite restaurant. There will always be salons (like restaurants) that are cheap or more expensive for what they offer. However, it’s essential to determine approximately what you are getting at an expertise level. For example, if you were to visit one of Gordon Ramsay’s restaurants, you’d expect to pay top dollar for the Michelin-Starred hamburger you’ve ordered. However, ordering a burger from McDonald’s would be a much cheaper alternative, but you would be sacrificing quality, taste, and satisfaction. The same hold’s true for cheap salons compared to specialized ones. When you book a hair color appointment at unDONE, our Boise hair salon stylists will factor in the starting point of your hair, your desired result, the cost of the product, and the techniques needed to achieve it.

Your Starting Point

Your hair’s starting point is a huge factor when it comes to the price of a color treatment. For example, if you want to achieve platinum blonde but your hair is box-dyed black, the process to get your hair where you want it is going to take time and money. Think of it as a hair journey. To achieve a platinum blonde look, you’re going to have to make multiple appointments for different processes to keep your hair as healthy as possible. Attempting to go the DIY route or choosing a cheap salon alternative could result in significant damage and color that you are less than thrilled about. Below are some additional starting points that will affect the cost of a quality hair color treatment.

Virgin Hair

If you have virgin hair that hasn’t been colored, you are in the best possible position for a lower-cost hair color treatment. Why? Virgin hair is the cleanest possible canvas to work with. The price quoted should be very true to the price you pay. With virgin hair, it will color as expected without much fuss or issues.

Previous Professional Hair Color

If you’ve had your hair professionally colored at unDONE in the past, our Boise hair salon stylists will have a more accurate idea of what we will be able to do with it. We’ve had clients go from a level 10 platinum blonde to a level 6 medium brown before wanting to go back to blonde. While it’s not an easy process, having worked with you before, we will have control over the entire color experience. Long story short, by having your hair professionally colored at unDONE, we will have a better prediction of what you can achieve going forward.

Color Correction

If you walk into unDONE with box dye hair color that didn’t turn out the way you wanted, there’s a good chance it’s not going to be an easy fix. Hair color corrections can result in long, multiple appointments to save the integrity of your hair. This, in turn, will result in a higher costing hair color treatment.

Keep in mind, on average, most salons charge $100 per hour for a color correction treatment. While this might seem a bit pricey, your Boise hair salon stylist will have to use a ton of time, product, and techniques to achieve your hair goals. This results in booking you for multiple hours or an entire day, so we won’t help other clients, which affects our income.

unDONE Salon

So there you have it. A general breakdown of what to expect when it comes to factoring the costs of a hair color treatment. That’s why it’s essential to do your research and determine your starting point to find what you should expect for your next hair color appointment. Want to learn more or book an appointment? Contact the Boise hair salon professionals at unDONE by calling our 738 N. Benjamin location at (208) 287-2010 or schedule online now.

Why Hair Color Is Great For Men Too!

Hair color isn’t just for women. If you’re a man who hasn’t treated yourself to a color service yet, why not? If it’s because of some preconceived notion that hair color is just for women, forget about it! At unDONE Salon, we provide all clients (men and women) with our amazing hair coloring services. That’s why we’d like to provide you with the following benefits of men’s hair color.

Boost Your Self Confidence

No matter whether you are a man or a woman, who doesn’t want to feel good about themselves? Why not boost your self-confidence by sporting a color that reflects your individuality? Even more, why go grey when you don’t have to? Grey blending is a subtle way to enhance and even out what you’re already sporting in the most natural way possible.

Color Can Be Good For Your Hair

Unless you are using box dye (don’t ever use box dye), color can actually be good for your hair. At unDONE Salon, we use only the finest hair color formulas that leave your hair looking better than it was prior to coloring. Even more, with the help of our professional stylists, we can ensure your hair looks as healthy, shiny, and natural as possible.

Color Maintenance Is Easy

Color maintenance is easy as long as you use the products recommended by your Boise hair salon stylist. Even more, the hair color treatments we provide can last you through to your next haircut appointment. So why not schedule both together?

Plump Thinning Hair

As we age, men (and women) can develop thin hair. Hair color can actually plump your hair and create the illusion of fuller hair. This can be a less expensive method compared to other treatments like hair replacement surgery.

Added Shine & Dimension

Hair color can create various hues that pick up and reflect light differently. This can make your hair seem much more vibrant and interesting rather than dull and normal. Who wants to be normal anyway?

Get A Fresh New Hair Color At unDONE Salon

It’s been quite a year for all of us, and with winter setting in, it’s time to think about making a positive change for ourselves that represents a positive outlook going forward. A great way to make that shift in mindset is by changing up your style, and a new hair color is a great way to make that happen. To help inspire you, the Boise hair salon stylists at unDONE would like to provide you with some of our favorite hair color options this season for a whole new style.

Warm Highlights

If you don’t want to change your hair color drastically but would like to add a little warmth to your style, ask your Boise hair salon stylist for some warm highlights. This winter, we’re seeing lots of caramel or ginger highlights, which help to brighten your hair and add an interesting color dimension. Warm highlights work with just about any hair color – but they look especially great on those with dark to medium brunettes.

Two-Toned Color

One of the hottest trends in hair color this year is two-toned color. At unDONE, you can choose the colors you like best. A good rule of thumb is to choose two starkly different colors that compliment yet contrast one another. A popular combination we’ve seen this year is blonde on top and dark brown on the bottom, but you can mix it up however you’d like.

Dark Honey Blonde

With light summer colors behind us, many blondes are opting for a darker honey shade this winter. It’s a bright and natural-looking hair color that’s just a hint darker than lighter shades, providing you with a stunning style that you’ll love.

Coppery Auburn

Going coppery auburn is a great way for brunettes to experiment in the realm of red without going too far from their natural hair color. If you’re not ready to go all over red, this color may be just the change you’re looking for.

Sun-Kissed Highlights

Whether you’re a brunette, blonde, redhead, or anything in between, you can easily boost your current hair color with sun-kissed highlights. Ask your Boise hair salon stylists for some complimenting highlights around your face and add in some deeper lowlights throughout.

unDONE Salon

If you’re ready to don a trendy new hair color this winter, the hair color experts at unDONE Salon are here to help. You can use any of these ideas for inspiration or come to us with your own vision to make a reality.
We are conveniently located at 738 N. Benjamin Lane in Boise, ID, near the Boise Towne Square Mall. You can schedule an appointment online or give us a call at (208) 287-2010 today. We look forward to seeing you!

Boise Hair Salon Tips For Cutting & Coloring Your Hair

Are you looking to change things up but not sure if you should cut or color your hair first? First of all, congrats on shaking things up! Secondly, the Boise hair salon stylists at unDONE would like to provide you with the following tips to know which option you should choose first.

Getting A Haircut First

Below are some reasons it makes more sense to cut your hair before you color it.

Your Hair Feels Dry & Damaged

Does your hair look and feel stressed? In the Treasure Valley, we spend a lot of time outside in the sun. However, too much sun exposure can cause your hair to look dull. Not a look anyone hopes to achieve. Furthermore, excessive sun exposure can dry out your hair, causing it to develop split ends.

If you’ve been outside most of the summer and it’s been a while since your last haircut, ask your Boise hair salon stylist for a trim to give you a fresh new look. This means we will apply your new hair color to the healthiest parts of your hair.

A Completely New Style

If you’re going for a completely new hairstyle, it’s important to decide on what you want before you color. Knowing your hair goals will help your Boise hair salon stylist to know what to do with your new hair color. This is especially true if you plan on cutting your long hair short.

Cutting your long hair before you color it is also a good idea if you want to add layers. Why? Layers will determine where highlights should be applied and how they will look when your hair moves.

You Want A Subtle Change, Not All Over Color

If you want a subtle change like a balayage hair color, it’s better to trim your hair before you highlight for best results. A trim will help your Boise hair salon stylist to decide where to place your new highlights. After all, why pay for stunning highlights if you’re just going to cut them all off?

Getting Hair Color First

Below are some reasons it makes more sense to color your hair before you cut it.

Transitioning To A Short Haircut

If you’re planning on getting a blunt pixie cut, it can be easier to dye your hair before you cut it all off. Removing length reduces the amount of hair to work with, making it harder to section for color on shorter styles. Coloring your hair before a short haircut can make the sectioning process easier while preventing overlapping from one section to another. Going this route will provide you with a great cut and color as a result.

Lightening Your Shade

Lightening your hair comes with potential damage. That’s why the Boise hair salon stylists at unDONE suggest bleaching it first before trimming away any unhealthy strands. After the lightening process, we will be able to determine how much hair should be trimmed based on the condition of your ends.

Achieve The Style Of Your Dreams at unDONE

Reasons To Listen To Your Boise Hair Salon Stylist About Hair Color

Whether you have long or short hair, keeping it in excellent condition is essential. By going to a Boise hair salon with highly trained stylists like unDONE, you’ll keep your hair healthy and looking great. It’s also the best way to maintain your hair color month after month. If you’re thinking about dying your hair, you may be wondering if you should go to the salon or grocery store for a DIY box kit. At unDONE, we advocate going to a professional stylist every time. That’s why we’d like to provide you with the following reasons to listen to your stylist when it comes to hair color.

Education & Experience

One of the most important reasons to visit your Boise hair salon for hair color is because they have the knowledge and experience to keep your hair healthy. With years of training and experience, a stylist can create a wide variety of styles based on your individual needs and personal preferences. A highly skilled stylist can also advise you on what styles and colors look best with your face shape and skin tone. With unDONE, you’ll achieve a look that accentuates your features in the best ways possible. Keep in mind that the images on DIY box kits won’t provide you with an accurate portrayal of the actual result you will get.

Different Techniques

If you’ve ever seen a picture of a model or celebrity and loved their hair, going to a Boise hair salon is the best way to make that happen. The stylists at unDONE have access to different color techniques like ombre and balayage to help transform your current hair into a gorgeous new look. Even if you follow all the steps in a YouTube tutorial, it’s impossible to achieve the custom hair color you’re looking for.

Product Recommendations

When it comes to purchasing hair care products, it can be hard to know which ones will maintain your hair color. That’s why going to a Boise hair salon is really helpful. At unDONE, our stylists will recommend products like Davines color-safe shampoos that are specifically designed for color-treated hair. A professional stylist will also provide you with plenty of tips to keep your hair looking beautiful between appointments.

Color Corrections

If you’ve ever colored your hair on your own or had a bad experience at a cheap salon, you know that mistakes can happen. Fortunately, when you visit a Boise hair salon like unDONE with highly skilled, experienced stylists, we can correct any existing damage. We can also apply products to help restore your hair to a healthy condition and create a plan to remove old color and fix any mistakes that have been made.

Dimensionality

When it comes to achieving definition and dimension for a natural, youthful look, only a professional stylist at a Boise hair salon has the knowledge and expertise to get the job done. Some DIY box kits claim to provide dimension. However, it’s just not possible to achieve a multi-dimensional hair color with a single application. The professional stylists at unDONE can combine a variety of colors and application techniques to ensure you walk out of our salon with the definition and dimension you deserve.

Professional-Grade Hair Color

Another great benefit of having your hair colored at a Boise hair salon is knowing that a professional stylist is using professional-grade hair color. DIY box kits won’t provide the same quality as what you would find at unDONE. Since these products are readily available at your local grocery store, there’s no way to get this peace of mind any other way. Professional hair color also contains ingredients that rejuvenate your hair to create a healthy, natural look.

Individualized Color

When it comes to hair color, a Boise hair salon stylist at unDONE can make recommendations based on your individual hair. They will examine your existing or original hair color and help you decide what changes would be best. For example, if you want your dark hair to be blonde but you’re not sure if it will look good on you, a professional stylist is trained to pick out the best colors based on your individual skin tone. This means that we can provide you with options and recommendations for what hair color will look best on you. Simply provide us with a few examples of what you want to achieve, and we will figure out the best shades for you!

Understanding Color Correction

Boise Hair Salon

Hi unDONE family! Have you ever heard the term “color correction” before? Perhaps you don’t fully understand the process and why it can be so expensive. Well, that’s why we’d like to provide you with the following information about color correction to give you the answers you need.

Most of our Boise hair salon stylists here at unDONE have done MANY color corrections during our careers. While it can be a long and grueling process, the end results are always worth it if you’ve ever had a color catastrophe.

Understanding Color Correction

There are a wide variety of color corrections, but two of the most common are making really dark hair lighter, or making really light hair darker. Have you ever visited your stylist after dying your hair with a dark box color and wanted to go blonde? Lightening your hair after using a dark DIY color on your hair isn’t always as easy as you may think.

Your hair will need to be bleached. This can take several appointments to maintain the health and integrity of your hair without damaging it. Furthermore, after using a box dye, your hair is more prone to lift unevenly with reddish and orange tones. During this process, your stylist will have to work to cancel out these uneven tones before you can even think about achieving your desired hair color.

Furthermore, if your hair is already platinum blonde and you want to go to a dark color, your stylist will have to fill your hair with a base color as blonde hair doesn’t have any pigment. They will then put your desired color on top of the filler once it’s rinsed out.

Keep in mind that some color corrections are easier than others. While some can be done in a single appointment, others can take weeks to accomplish. It all depends on your individual hair and what you are trying to achieve.

Why Color Correction Can Get Pricey

Depending on the severity of your situation, most Boise hair salons charge between $100 – $200 for a color correction. Why? Depending on your hair’s individual needs, some color corrections can take up to six hours per treatment. This means your stylist is unable to fit any other clients in during this time. Not only that, but your stylist has to use larger amounts of color to achieve the desired tone. Furthermore, proper application is crucial when it comes to fixing your hair color during a correction, which takes time. Once your hair has been successfully lightened or filled with pigment, your stylist will have to tone your hair with just the right colors to get rid of any brassy, green, or red tones, which can be a massive step during the color correction process.

At unDONE, we’ve had many clients call us for help after attempting to color their hair at home. If you are thinking of going the DIY route, we speak from experience that 99% of the time, it goes badly. From fried hair to multiple shades of yellow, orange, and gold, we’ve seen it all, and nobody likes the end results. That’s why it’s important to trust your hair with a stylist at unDONE salon. We are trained professionals for a reason!

Understanding Common Boise Hair Salon Color Techniques

Boise Hair Salon Color Techniques

Are you stuck in a hair rut? A great way to breath new life into your hair is by changing up your color. Need some inspiration or just want to understand some basic hair color techniques? The Boise hair salon stylists at unDONE have got you covered with the following roundup of fun ideas. Who knows? You might just find the technique that works best for you. Just remember to send a picture of the hair color you’re dreaming to your stylist before making an appointment.

BALAYAGE

Balayage is a pretty sounding French word that means to sweep or paint color onto hair. This hair color service is actually a specific highlighting technique. During a balayage treatment, your Boise hair salon stylist paints or lightens hair on the surface freehand instead of saturating entire sections of your hair with dye. The end result is softer, more natural looking highlights that easily blend in as your hair grows longer.

OMBRE

Ombre is a hair color treatment that allows your darker roots to fade into a much lighter color at the ends, such as blonde. If your hair isn’t naturally dark, you may want to ask your Boise hair salon stylist to deepen the natural shade at your roots for a more dramatic ombre. Keep in mind that balayage is a hair color technique while ombre is an end look. Your Boise hair salon stylist will use the balayage (highlighting) technique to achieve an ombre outcome.

SOMEBRE

Sombre is often considered the softer sister of ombre. With this method, there is a lower contrast between your hair at the roots than your hair at the ends. Furthermore, the dark shade at your roots will subtly graduate into the color at the ends for a seamless blend.

HIGHLIGHTS

Highlights are the sections of your hair that are dyed lighter than your natural shade. This technique can be used to give your hair more dimension, accentuate your facial features, or slim the look of your face altogether. Keep in mind that highlights are the opposite of lowlights which are strands of your hair that are dyed darker than your natural shade. To add highlights to your hair, your Boise hair salon stylist may use one of two techniques, foil highlights or balayage.

BABY HIGHLIGHTS

Baby highlights consist of tiny, subtle highlights that resemble the same sun-kissed highlights you had as a child. They get their delicate appearance from the very small amounts of hair color that are separated and placed in foil.

HAIR GLOSS

A hair gloss treatment consists of closing the cuticles of your hair, providing a smoother, shinier, and less frizzy look. In a tinted form, it’s a wonderful ammonia-free, semi-permanent alternative to hair dye. If you’ve already colored your hair, getting a hair gloss treatment can help you maintain your color longer while correcting brassiness and deepening or toning down your color. Furthermore, if you don’t want to change your hair color but want to reap all the shiny benefits, you can opt for a clear gloss, instead.

unDONE Salon

There you have it – the six most commonly used hair color techniques! At unDONE, we know hair salon jargon can get confusing. That’s why we wanted to provide you with the above cheat sheet to provide you with a basic understanding of all the techniques you’ve heard floating around online. More importantly, however, is to speak up and ask your Boise hair salon stylist questions when you don’t understand something. We promise to keep you informed in order to provide you with bright, vibrant, multi-dimensional hair color that looks amazing.

Boise Hair Salon: Professional Hair Color Vs. Box Dye

At unDONE Salon, clients often ask us the difference between professional hair color vs. box dye you find at your local grocery store. When it comes to the outcome of your hair, there are several major differences. That’s why we’d like to provide you with a summary of what you should know to make an educated decision when it comes to choosing a professional hair color over a box dye.

Why We Don’t Recommend Box Dye

Unpredictable & Undesirable Results

Many things contribute to the outcome of your hair color. Previous color services, formula, application, and the condition of your hair are just a few of them. When it comes to box color, it’s a “one size fits all” solution that doesn’t factor in any of these elements. It doesn’t matter what your hair condition is or what’s been done to it in the past. Instead, box dye provides the same solution and developer for everyone. This can result in an unknown hair color that you may not like and can damage your hair in the process.

For example, if someone has dark brown hair and wants to dye it bright blonde, they will not achieve the results they want by grabbing a box of dye at the grocery store. If they do they will most likely end up with orange or yellow hair and very brassy undertones.

The two main reasons for this are:

  1. Color cannot lift color – If you have an old color in your hair, it must be removed before a lighter color can be applied.
  2. Box color can only lighten two or three levels – Going from a level 2 to a level 7 cannot be achieved with a box dye.
Developer & Damage

The developer that comes with box dye can range greatly. This is because most box dye is formulated to cover gray hair with a very dark shade. However, coating your hair with a high volume developer can damage your hair. Box developers contain ammonia and peroxide to chemically alter your hair by opening the cuticle and allowing the color to penetrate the shaft to permanently change your hair color. Using a developer that’s too strong or coloring previously colored hair can lead to breakage and permanent damage.

Time & Cost

When it comes to achieving the hair color you desire, you get what you pay for. If you want to avoid undesired results and damaged hair, it best to seek out a professional hair stylist at unDONE. The time money you spend to correct a bad hair color can be quite expensive. Even more, it can take up to 3-4 hours and more than one appointment. That’s why when you want to color your hair, it’s imperative to ditch the box altogether and head straight to the salon to maintain healthy, beautiful hair.

Professional Hair Color

At unDONE, our Boise hair salon stylists are trained in the art of color, chemistry, and processing. To accurately change the color and tone of your hair, you need a personalized solution. From texture to density, porosity, color, and length, everything comes into play. Even your skin tone can play an important role when it comes to determining the best color for your hair.

As hair color experts, we have the ability to lighten, darken, highlight, lowlight, balayage, and ombre your hair unlike anything box dye can do. We take the time to customize hair color for each and every client that walks through our door to provide you with the look you desire.

unDONE Salon: Common Concerns About Hair Color

Ok. Say you’ve made up your mind and you want to try something new by coloring your hair. But what does that entail? No matter what your hair situation is, the thing about hair color is that in order to get what you want, it all depends on what you’re starting with. That’s why the Boise hair salon stylists at unDONE would like to address some of your common concerns about the hair color process.

Common Concerns About Hair Color

Your Hair Currently Has Color

It’s important to understand that if you already have color in your hair, it can severely impact the outcome of what you want to achieve. Even more, it doesn’t matter if you colored your hair yesterday or last year, it’s important to be honest and inform your Boise hair salon stylist of any past hair colors. Unless the color has been grown and cut out, we will have to adjust the formula of your new hair color to get the desired color you want.

You Love Your Natural Hair Color But Wish It Was A Little Lighter

Even though it seems like something small, lightening your hair just a little bit is a totally different color. In order to lighten your hair, it requires your Boise hair salon stylist to use a permanent hair color formula. This is because your existing hair color will need to be lifted and semi-permanent color doesn’t have the ability to penetrate and lift the color of your hair.

You Just Want Some Added Depth To Brighten Up Your Hair

If you want to add some depth to brighten up your hair but aren’t looking for something permanent, unDONE Salon can provide you with a semi-permanent hair color that will enhance your natural color while adding strength and beautiful shine.

You’ve Never Colored Your Hair Before But Want To Cover Your Grays

If you are looking to cover your gray completely, you may want to opt for an all-over permanent hair color. These formulas will remove any hint of gray. However, it’s important to stay away from all-over box hair color found at your local grocery store. No matter what is promised on the box, the formula isn’t customizable depending on your hair type and texture. Instead, it’s important to visit your Boise hair salon stylist at unDONE to ensure you get the professional, all-over color your looking to achieve.

Keep in mind that if an all-over, permanent hair color makes you nervous, we can use a demi-permanent color to blend your gray hair rather than completely cover it. This can often be a great route for those new to hair color.
