A Salon Guide to the Do’s & Don’ts After Getting Eyelash Extensions in Boise, Idaho

Getting eyelash extensions can be a transformative beauty experience. They add volume, length, and an undeniable allure to your natural lashes. But to keep that fresh, fluttery appearance, there’s a bit of aftercare involved. That’s why unDONE would like to provide you with the following salon guide to the do’s and don’ts after getting eyelash extensions in Boise, Idaho.

Do: Mind Your Lashes’ Lifespan

First things first, remember that eyelash extensions are semi-permanent and require some important care. The adhesive used for your extensions needs time to cure, so it’s crucial to keep your lashes dry and avoid any steam or high humidity for the first 24 to 48 hours after application. This means no hot showers, saunas, or sweaty workouts immediately following your appointment.

Don’t: Rub Your Eyes

We know it’s tempting, especially if you’re used to rubbing your eyes when you’re tired or removing makeup. But rubbing can loosen the delicate extensions and damage your natural lashes. If you must touch your eyes, do so with a gentle patting motion.

Do: Use the Right Products

When it comes to eyelash extensions, the right aftercare products can make a world of difference. Use oil-free cleansers and makeup removers to avoid breaking down the adhesive. Your lash technician can recommend products specifically designed for extensions, ensuring that you can clean and maintain them without causing any harm.

Don’t: Use Waterproof Mascara

Waterproof mascara is a big no-no when it comes to eyelash extensions. The formula is often difficult to remove and can create a buildup that’s tough to clean without pulling on your extensions. Most clients find they don’t even need mascara with their new, fuller lashes. But if you’re looking for an extra pop for a special occasion, opt for a water-based mascara instead.

Do: Brush Them Out

Keep your eyelash extensions looking neat and tidy by gently brushing them with a spoolie brush. This can be done once a day to prevent any crisscrossing or tangling. Always brush with a light hand and only when your lashes are completely dry.

Don’t: Apply Heavy Eyeliner

Just like with mascara, heavy makeup can affect the lifespan of your lash extensions. Thick eyeliner can get into the base of the lashes, creating a buildup that’s not easy to clean. If eyeliner is a must, go for a gentle, oil-free formula and apply it sparingly.

Do: Schedule Regular Fills

To keep your lashes looking their best, regular fills are necessary. This process replaces any lashes that have naturally fallen out as part of your lash cycle. At unDONE, we recommend getting a fill every two to three weeks to maintain that full, lush look.

Don’t: Remove Them Yourself

If you decide you want to part ways with your eyelash extensions, don’t attempt to remove them yourself as picking or pulling them can damage your natural lashes. Instead, schedule an appointment at unDONE for professional removal. Our technicians are trained to remove them safely and painlessly.

Eyelash Extensions in Boise

What Eyelash Extensions Are Made Of

Eyelash extensions are a popular beauty treatment that instantly gives you longer, thicker lashes. They are made with synthetic materials or natural hair and come in a variety of colors and shapes. That’s why it’s important to understand what they are made of if you’re considering getting eyelash extensions so you can make an informed decision.

At Undone, we would like to discuss the different components of eyelash extensions and their advantages and disadvantages. We’ll also cover the safety considerations associated with using these products. With this guide, you’ll gain a better understanding of what eyelash extensions are made from and how they may benefit your overall look.

Silk

Eyelash extensions are most often made of silk – a lightweight and soft material. Synthetic silks provide a more natural-looking finish, while mink lashes offer a thicker look with greater volume. Either type of silk is typically hypoallergenic and safe for sensitive eyes. They also last longer than synthetic materials, so they can be worn for up to 8 weeks without needing to replace them.

Silk eyelash extensions are easy to apply and comfortable to wear due to their soft texture. They’re also very light, which makes them ideal for those who don’t want the feeling of extra weight on their eyelids or around their eyes during application and use. And since they come in various shapes and sizes, you can customize them to fit your desired look.

The downside to silk eyelash extensions is that they may not be as long-lasting compared to materials. Silk lashes can brittle over time due to the air, so you need to replace them more frequently than synthetic ones. Additionally, it’s important to keep in mind that silk lash extensions are more expensive than their synthetic counterparts.

Overall, silk eyelash extensions are a great choice for those looking for a natural, versatile look with comfortable wearability. Just make sure you’re mindful of their durability when making your decision.

Mink

Mink lashes are made of real fur and tend to be more expensive than synthetic materials. They are lightweight, soft, and have a natural-looking shine that can give your eyes a glamorous look. Since they’re made from real fur, they are also naturally hypoallergenic and safe for those with sensitive skin or eyes.

Mink eyelash extensions have the advantage of being ultra-lightweight, so you won’t feel like you’re wearing anything extra on your face when you apply them. Additionally, these lashes will last longer than synthetics – up to 8 weeks without needing to replace them.

The downside is that mink extensions require more care and attention when using them compared to synthetic materials. Mink lash extensions are sensitive to the air, so you need to take extra precautions when applying and removing them. Additionally, since mink lashes are made from real fur, it’s important that they aren’t applied too close to your eyes, as this can increase the risk of irritation or an allergic reaction.

Overall, mink eyelash extensions provide a natural-looking finish with longer-lasting wearability. However, they require more care than synthetic materials and may be more expensive in comparison. Therefore, it’s important to consider your budget and lifestyle before making a decision.

Synthetic

Synthetic eyelash extensions are typically made of polyester and create a stronger bond than silk or mink lashes. They are also the most affordable option, making them ideal for those on a budget.

Synthetic extensions last longer than silk and mink lashes – up to 12 weeks without needing replacement. Additionally, they come in various shapes and sizes, so you can customize them to fit your desired look.

The downside of synthetic extensions is that they may be more difficult to apply due to their thicker material. Additionally, they don’t have a natural-looking finish compared to silk or mink lashes. Overall, synthetic eyelash extensions are the most affordable option but do require more effort when applying them.

How to Take Care of Eyelash Extensions this Summer

Summer is a time for fun in the sun, but it can also be hard on your eyelash extensions. With temperatures rising and increased exposure to pool water and saltwater, it’s important to take extra care of your lash extensions during this season. That’s why Undone Salon’s lash technician in Boise would like to provide you with the following tips to help keep your eyelash extensions healthy and beautiful all summer long.

Avoid Water At Least Four Hours After Your Appointment

The first key step to keeping your eyelash extensions looking their best is avoiding water for at least four hours after your appointment. This includes swimming pools, hot tubs, and even just splashing in the surf. You need to give enough time for your lash technician’s adhesive to cure before coming into contact with water. This will help keep the adhesive strong so your lashes stay in place longer.

Clean Your Lashes Regularly

It’s important to properly cleanse your lashes on a regular basis throughout the summer months. The heat and humidity can cause dirt, oil, and sweat to build up quickly on your extensions and cause them to look dull and drab. To prevent this, use an oil-free cleanser to gently remove buildup and keep your lashes looking lush and full. You can also use a lash brush designed specifically for extensions to help get rid of any debris that may be stuck in between the lashes.

Be Careful Around Sunscreen

You’ll want to be extra careful when it comes to sunscreen if you have eyelash extensions. The oils found in some sunscreens can weaken the adhesive holding your extensions in place, so make sure you choose a water-based formula with no oils or heavy ingredients.

It’s best to apply sunscreen before getting into the pool or ocean and avoid rubbing it directly onto your eyelashes. You should also apply a light layer of Vaseline between your lashes to help keep the sunscreen from coming into direct contact with them.

Protect Your Lashes from Chlorine and Saltwater

Pool water and salt water can both be damaging to eyelash extensions, so it’s best to avoid swimming or taking a dip in the ocean when possible. If you do decide to go for a swim, make sure you wear goggles or sunglasses to protect your eyes and lashes from chlorine or saltwater.

You should also rinse off your face as soon as possible after leaving the pool or beach to help get rid of any residue that may remain on your lashes. This will also help prevent irritation caused by chemicals like chlorine or salt left on your skin.

Avoid Oily Cosmetics

Oils and heavy ingredients can quickly break down the adhesive holding your eyelash extensions in place, so it’s best to avoid using any products with oils or heavy ingredients. This includes mascara, eye shadow, and other cosmetics that contain oil. When washing off your makeup at night, use an oil-free cleanser or micellar water to help keep your lashes looking their best all summer long.

Don’t Sleep on Your Stomach

It’s important to be mindful of your sleeping position when you have eyelash extensions. Sleeping on your stomach can cause the lashes to rub against your pillow and eventually fall out. To avoid this, make sure you sleep on your back or side with a satin pillowcase to reduce friction and help keep your lashes looking beautiful all summer long!

Visit Your Lash Technician in Boise Regularly

Finally, be sure to visit your lash technician regularly throughout the summer months. They can help you identify any issues with your extensions and give you advice on how to take care of them properly in the heat and humidity.

Boise Salon

A Boise Salon Guide to Eyelash Extensions

Eyelash extensions are a popular beauty procedure that can help to enhance the look of your eyes. They provide length, volume, and fullness to the lashes for an instantly more glamorous look.

Many people opt for eyelash extensions when they want to add some extra drama to their makeup routine or give themselves the appearance of having naturally fuller lashes.

That’s why unDONE would like to provide you with the following Boise salon guide to eyelash extensions and what you need to know before having them done. We’ll also cover aftercare tips so you can enjoy beautiful, lush lashes for longer.

Benefits of Lash Extensions

The main benefit of eyelash extensions is that they instantly create the appearance of having thicker and longer lashes. They’re also a great option if you have sparse, short, or thin lashes that don’t respond well to traditional mascara. When applied correctly, lash extensions can be very natural-looking.

Eyelash extensions are much more durable than other beauty treatments like false eyelashes or tinting. With proper care, extensions can last up to 6-8 weeks before needing to be replaced. Finally, lash extensions save you time in the morning as you won’t need to apply mascara or struggle with trying to get your false lashes just right every day.

Preparation for Lash Extensions

Before getting eyelash extensions, it’s important to research the Boise salon or technician you plan on visiting and make sure they are reputable. You should also carefully read the pre-care instructions and discuss any questions or concerns with the technician.

On the day of your appointment, make sure to come without makeup around your eyes so your technician can easily access your lashes. The application process usually takes between one to two hours, so plan accordingly and give yourself plenty of time.

If you have sensitive eyes, consider taking an over-the-counter antihistamine prior to your appointment in order to minimize discomfort.

After the procedure is complete, be sure to follow all aftercare instructions provided by your technician to ensure that your extensions last as long as possible. Good aftercare is essential for keeping your lash extensions looking their best.

Getting Lash Extensions Applied

A professional applies eyelash extensions at a Boise salon or beauty clinic. The process takes about 1-2 hours, depending on the number of lashes that need to be applied and the type of extensions you choose.

The extensions are made from mink, synthetic, or silk fibers and come in various lengths, thicknesses, and curls. Your technician will help you decide which works best for your eye shape and desired look.

Your technician will use specialized tweezers to carefully attach individual lashes to your natural eyelashes one by one. Once all the lashes have been attached, they’ll apply an adhesive to hold them in place.

Aftercare Tips

Once you have your lash extensions applied, you should follow a few aftercare tips to ensure they last longer and stay healthy.

First, avoid touching or rubbing your eyes, which can cause the extensions to fall out prematurely. You also need to be careful when applying eye makeup and be sure that any products you use are oil-free, as oils can weaken the adhesive bond of the extensions.

Additionally, it’s best to avoid steam rooms or saunas for at least 24 hours after getting them applied. Finally, you should get regular touch-ups every 4-6 weeks so your lash artist can fill in any gaps caused by the natural shedding of eyelashes. This will keep your extensions looking full and beautiful for longer.

Choosing an Experienced Technician

When it comes to getting eyelash extensions, it’s important to choose a technician that is experienced and reputable. Do some research ahead of time to ensure you find a good fit. Ask friends or family for recommendations, read reviews online, and look through the portfolio of any technicians you are considering to get a better idea of their work.

Once you’ve found someone you trust, discuss your desired look with them and ask about the type of products they use. Make sure they provide before and aftercare instructions and answer any questions or concerns you may have.

Top Things to Know Before Getting Eyelash Extensions

Eyelash extensions are becoming more and more popular every day. They are a great way to add length and volume to your lashes without using mascara. However, there are some things that you should know before getting them done. That’s why the beauty experts at unDONE Salon would like to discuss the top things that you need to know before getting eyelash extensions.

Eyelash Extensions are Much Better than False Eyelashes

False eyelashes are a thing of the past. They are uncomfortable, difficult to apply, and they never look quite natural. Eyelash extensions, on the other hand, are much more comfortable and look very natural. They are also semi-permanent, so you don’t have to worry about them falling off or being difficult to remove. Extensions will last anywhere from four to six weeks with proper care.

You Will Need to Take Care of Your Extensions

Just like your hair, your lash extensions will require some special care. You will need to avoid rubbing your eyes or using oil-based products around your lashes. You should also brush them daily with a soft-bristled brush to keep them looking their best. Be sure to see your lash technician for regular fills every two to three weeks.

They are Not Suitable for Everyone

If you have sensitive eyes or skin, you may want to avoid lash extensions. Some people also experience allergic reactions to the glue that is used to apply the extensions. If you are unsure whether or not you will be able to tolerate them, it is best to consult with a professional at unDONE Salon beforehand.

You Will Need to Visit a Professional Lash Technician in Boise

Applying lash extensions is not something that should be attempted at home. It is a delicate process that requires precision and skill. When done correctly, lash extensions can look amazing. However, if they are not applied correctly, they can cause damage to your natural lashes. For this reason, it is always best to visit a professional lash technician in Boise.

Eyelash Extensions Will Change Your Makeup Routine

If you are used to wearing a lot of mascara, you will definitely notice a difference after getting lash extensions. Since your lashes will already be long and voluminous, you won’t need to use as much mascara. In fact, it is best to avoid waterproof mascaras as they can be difficult to remove and may damage your extensions.

You May Experience Some Discomfort

While lash extensions are generally very comfortable, some people do experience discomfort during the application process. If you have sensitive eyes or skin, you may want to consider getting a patch test done beforehand. This will help you determine if you are allergic to the glue or not.

Eyelash Extensions Come in Different Materials

There are a variety of different materials that can be used for lash extensions. The most popular options are mink and synthetic. Mink lashes are made from real mink fur and are considered to be the highest quality. They are also the most expensive option. Synthetic lashes are made from synthetic fiber and are a more affordable option.

You Can Choose the Length and Thickness of Your Extensions

When you get lash extensions, you can choose how long and thick you want them to be. You can also choose the shape and curl. Your lash technician in Boise will be able to help you choose the right style for your eyes. Just keep in mind that it is best to go with a more natural look if you are new to lash extensions.

Improper Application Can Harm Your Lashes

As we mentioned before, it is very important to visit a professional lash technician in Boise. If you try to apply them yourself or go to an inexperienced technician, you could end up damaging your natural lashes. In some cases, people have even lost their lashes completely because they were not applied correctly.

Boise Eyelash Extensions 101

Who doesn’t love long, beautiful lashes? The best part? They enhance your eyes and overall look! If you’re lucky enough to have naturally long lashes, simply curling them and using mascara may be enough to enhance them. However, not all of us are blessed with luscious lashes. While you can always purchase fake eyelashes at your local beauty store, they can be hard and time-consuming to apply. Not to mention expensive.

That’s where eyelash extensions come in! With eyelash extensions, you let the beauty experts at unDONE Salon do the job. With us, you simply lie back, relax, and in an hour or two, you will get the sexy, beautiful eyelashes you’ve always dreamed of. That’s why we’d like to provide you with the following Boise eyelash extension guide if you’ve been thinking about getting them.

The Application Process

First and foremost, there are different types of eyelash extensions. These range from silk, mink, and synthetic that vary in size from 6mm to 17mm. These extensions are applied by a professional technician that specializes in eyelash extensions. The process involves applying the lashes one by one using a special glue to hold them into place. If you’re worried about having a reaction or going blind from the glue, it’s important to know that the special eyelash glue we use is formulated to be eye-friendly and won’t damage your eyes or natural eyelashes.

The entire application process can take 1-2 hours. After that regular maintenance touch-ups will be required approximately every 3-4 weeks. We will also recommend a certain length for your extensions depending on your natural eyelashes overall condition. This will ensure your natural lashes stay healthy after applying the extensions.

Common Eyelash Misconceptions

While many people are okay with DIY false eyelashes, others like the option of having them professionally applied without the tedious task of applying them daily. However, some people may be apprehensive due to the following eyelash extension misconceptions.

It Causes Blindness

During the application process, you will be asked to keep your eyes closed for the duration of the procedure. This ensures nothing will get into your eyes, including the glue. In a worst case scenario, you may experience an extremely rare allergic reaction. However, this won’t result in blindness. For treatment, you will need to talk with your doctor about your specific allergies and take recommended medication to relieve any symptoms.

Your Natural Eyelashes Will Fall out

No evidence suggests eyelash extensions will make your natural lashes fall out. Instead, natural eyelashes grow in and fall out in cycles, which can occur every 60-90 days. That’s why it’s completely normal if you notice any eyelash shedding. Regular eyelash extensions, however, will help to ensure your natural eyelashes and extensions are in overall good condition.

Maintaining Your Eyelash Extensions

Below are some tips to ensure your eyelash extensions are in top condition and last as long as possible:

  • Avoid using mascara with eyelash extensions. This can cause them to break off from your natural lashes when you wash your makeup off at the end of the day.
  • Never rub or tug at your eyelash extensions. Instead, use soft, makeup remover pads and wipe them gently in a downwards motion with a recommended cleanser when washing your face.
  • Don’t swim or shower for at least 24 hours after getting professional eyelash extensions. While you can still bathe, it’s important to avoid getting your eyelashes wet.

Boise Eyelash Extension Summer Tips

At unDONE Salon, we love eyelash extensions just as much as we love summer! To us, this time of year means lots of sunshine, outdoor fun, and relaxation. With warm nights, BBQ’s, swimming, and gathering with friends and loved ones, what’s not to love about summer?

As Boise eyelash extension professionals, we believe whole-heartily that this trend is one of the best to have ever graced the beauty industry. Why? Women all over the world love the low-maintenance option of being able to wake up and go about their day with little to no makeup. Never before have we had the ability to ditch the time-consuming task of applying eyeliner and mascara or having to deal with it melting and smearing when the temperatures heat up!

That’s why we’d like to provide you with the following eyelash extension tips to keep you looking beautiful and fabulous all summer long!

Rinse & Pat Dry After Swimming

Over the summer, chlorine and saltwater from the swimming pool can affect lash retention. That’s why it’s important to rinse your eyelash extensions with fresh water after swimming, and pat them dry with a soft cloth or towel (without rubbing) to dry.

Avoid Direct Heat

Direct heat and eyelash extensions don’t mix. Not only can it relax your curl, but it can also singe your lashes! When barbecuing or warming up near a toasty campfire, it’s important not to stand too close or directly over the heat. This will ensure your eyelash extensions stay intact and look beautiful.

Use A Towel Or Sweatband

During the summer, it’s almost impossible not to sweat. However, sweat carries the natural oils from your skin that can run into your eyes and affect the retention of your eyelash extensions. At unDONE, we strongly believe in the health benefits of exercise. However, it’s important to protect your lashes by using a towel or sweatband when you’re working out to prevent sweat from running into your eyes.

Keep Eyelash Extensions Clean

Camping, swimming, and hiking during the summer can cause us to get dirty pretty fast. This dirt, sweat, and other debris can collect in your eyelash extensions. That’s why we recommend keeping them as clean as possible by rinsing them off in the shower or using a super gentle lash cleaning solution regularly.

Apply Sunscreen Carefully

At unDONE, we believe sunscreen is an absolute MUST, especially during the dog days of summer. However, it’s important to know that many sunscreen brands contain oil that can run onto your eyelash extension, causing premature shedding. That’s why we recommend applying sunscreen carefully and do your best to avoid the eye area and allow it to fully soak into your skin before spending time outdoors.

Summer Tips For Boise Eyelash Extensions

At unDONE Salon, eyelash extensions and summer are two of our favorite things. Now that the 4th of July is in just a few days, we think it’s safe to say that summer in the Treasure Valley is finally in full swing!

Summertime is full of long sunny days, typically spent outside, lounging next to the pool or floating the Boise River. It also means plenty of warm nights gathered around the grill with family and friends, along with weekend camping trips. What’s not to love?

Even more, eyelash extensions are a low maintenance option to get up and go with little to no need for makeup during the dog days of summer. That’s why we’d like to provide you with the following summer tips to help keep your eyelash extensions looking fabulous all season long.

Boise Eyelash Extensions Summer Tips

Rinse & Pat Dry After Swimming

Over the summer, chlorine and salt water from swimming pools can affect lash retention. That’s why we recommend rinsing your face with fresh water after you swim, then gently comb your lashes with a lash wand or pat them dry (without rubbing) to remove excess water, salt, and chlorine.

Avoid Direct Heat

Exposure to direct heat can relax the curl of your eyelash extensions or even singe them. When grilling or sitting around a campfire, it’s important not to get too close or directly over the heat. Doing so will ensure your lashes are beautiful and intact.

Summer = More Sweat

It’s nearly impossible to enjoy the outdoors during summer and not sweat. However, sweat carries natural oils and salt from your skin that can affect lash retention. At unDONE Salon, we strongly believe in the benefits of exercise. However, to keep your eyelashes looking beautiful, we recommend the use of a towel or sweatband when working up a sweat. Last, but not least, rinse your lashes post workout with fresh water.

Keeping Your Lash Extensions Clean

Whether you are camping, hiking, or swimming, being outside can lead to an increase in dirt and debris collecting in your eyelash extensions. At unDONE, we recommend keeping them clean by rinsing in the shower and allowing the water to pass through them. You can also use a specialized lash cleanser recommended by your professional lash extension tech and a super gentle cleansing brush to thoroughly clean them regularly.

Sunscreen Application

Using sunscreen during the summer is an absolute must to protect your skin from the damaging effects of harmful UV rays of the sun. However, most brands of sunscreen contain oils that can run onto your eyelash extensions which can lead to excessive shedding. That’s why recommend taking extra precaution when applying your sunscreen by avoiding the eye area and to allow it to fully soak in before swimming or sweating.

unDONE Salon
