Boise Hair Salon Tips For Maintaining Your Hair Color

If you are like most people, you probably take great pride in your appearance. One of the ways that many people express their individuality is through their hair color. Unfortunately, fading hair color can be a common problem. That’s why the Boise hair salon stylists at unDONE would like to discuss some tips on how to prevent fading hair color and keep your locks looking fabulous.

Wait Three Days to Shampoo

When you dye your hair, the color molecules need some time to settle in before they will stay put. Therefore, it is important to wait three days before you shampoo your new color. This can prevent the water and chemicals from washing away the molecules and fading your color.

Take Lukewarm Showers

When taking a shower, it is important to use lukewarm water rather than hot. Hot water can cause your hair cuticles to swell and open, allowing the color molecules to escape more easily. Lukewarm water will help to keep your cuticles closed and prevent fading. You should also use a conditioning shampoo specifically designed for colored hair. These products are formulated with ingredients that help lock in moisture, which prevents the color from fading away too quickly.

Deep Condition Regularly

In addition to conditioning shampoos, regular deep conditioning treatments can significantly improve the vibrancy of your dyed hair. Deep conditioners like Davines MINU hair mask contain nourishing ingredients such as proteins and natural oils that penetrate the hair shaft and lock in moisture, helping to keep your hair looking vibrant and healthy. It is recommended to deep condition your hair at least once a week, but more often if you notice that your color is fading too quickly.

Use Heat Protectant Sprays

Heat can damage dyed hair, causing the color molecules to fade away quickly. To prevent fading, it is important to use a heat protectant spray like Davines MELU hair shield before using any hot styling tools such as curling irons or blow dryers. These sprays create a protective barrier between the tool and your hair, helping to keep your color intact.

Use a Filter in the Shower

Chlorine can be a major culprit when it comes to fading hair color. To prevent this, use a shower filter that will remove chlorine and other toxins from your water supply. This helps to keep your dyed hair vibrant and healthy for longer periods of time.

Stay Out of the Sun

It is important to protect your hair from the sun’s harsh rays. UV radiation can cause the color molecules in your hair to break down faster, resulting in a duller and faded appearance.

Using a leave-in conditioner or sunscreen like Davines SU Milk that’s specifically designed for colored hair can help to shield it from harmful UV rays and keep your hue looking vibrant.

Take a Break from Heating Tools

When possible, try to give your hair a break from heated styling tools. Heat can be very damaging and can cause the color molecules in your hair to break down more quickly, leading to fading strands.

Wash Your Hair Less Often

Washing your hair too often can strip away the natural oils that help to protect and nourish your locks. Try to limit washing your hair to three times a week and use dry shampoo when you don’t have time for a full wash.

How to Get the Dark Chocolate Hair Color Look

Are you looking to switch up your hair color for the new year? Dark chocolate brown may be just the shade for you! This popular color is flattering on many skin tones and can easily be achieved with a few simple steps. So, whether you’re looking to go all out with a dramatic transformation or just add a hint of chocolatey goodness, the Boise hair salon stylists at unDONE would like to provide you with the following guide for dark chocolate hair color.

Dark Chocolate Hair Color

If there were a hair color equivalent to a one-size-fits-all tee shirt, it would be dark chocolate brown. This candy bar tone is flattering on just about everyone — and as Boise hair salon stylists, we mean it. It’s a beautiful hue for those with cool or warm skin tones and provides tons of dimension for those with any hair type and texture. While dark chocolate is a popular choice in the Treasure Valley this winter, celebrities and influencers worldwide are going over to the dark side. Keep reading to learn more about the dark chocolate hair color trend and how to choose a hue that’s right for you.

The Dark Chocolate Trend

The dark chocolate hair color trend combines multiple deep tones that create tons of shine and dimension. This provides additional depth, richness, and warmth. Depending on your undertones, your Boise hair salon stylist at unDONE may incorporate a blend of red-based brunette hues to flatter your warm skin tone or chestnut-based browns to flatter those with cool skin tones.

Although any base color can work with a dark chocolate hue, those with naturally brunette hair will have an easier time achieving the color. For those with a dark base color with some highlights, the process can be as simple as having your stylists tone the lighter sections to deeper shades of coffee or cinnamon. The best part? If you have a dark base, maintaining this hair color will be extremely easy because there will be fewer touch-ups between the new color and root growth. This can be anywhere between 6-8 weeks, whereas those with a lighter base color will have to touch up every 2-4 weeks.

Generally speaking, the Boise hair salon stylists at unDONE advise going no further than two shades of your natural hair color when choosing a dark chocolate brown. If you go any darker, it can look harsh, and any lighter can appear brassy. This is especially true if you start with a blonde base and go any further than two shades darker, which will result in light roots growing out very quickly.

Another thing to consider is whether or not your hair was previously bleached. If so, it can cause the dark hair color to fade much faster than it normally would for those who’ve never bleached their hair. As with any hair color treatment, how fast the color fades depends on how often you wash your hair and whether the products you use are safe for color-treated hair, along with the use of any hot styling tools.

If you’ve previously bleached your hair, it may take multiple sessions to achieve the dark chocolate color you want. Additionally, if you’re not in it for the long haul, going blonde to brunette to blonde again can make re-lightening your hair much more difficult.

The Bottom Line

For those with naturally dark hair, achieving a dark chocolate hair color isn’t difficult as long as you maintain your color with color-protecting formulas between appointments. Going from blonde to deep brunette, however, it’s a little harder to achieve. But if it’s your ultimate goal, doing so will be completely worth it if you’re willing to invest the time and maintenance required.

Anytime you color your hair, it’s important to ask yourself if you will be committed to it. If you like to change things frequently, you might opt for some lowlights instead of all-over color.

Best Haircuts Based on the Shape of Your Face

Do you know your face shape? If not, it’s time to figure it out. Once you know your face shape, you can start looking for haircuts that will flatter your features. There are many different haircut styles out there, but not all of them will look good on every face shape.

That’s why the Boise hair salon stylists at unDONE would like to discuss the best haircuts for each of the six most common face shapes. This includes round, oval, square, rectangular, diamond, and triangular face shapes.

What is a Face Shape?

The width and length of your face determine your face shape. Your facial features and bone structure change with age, so it’s important to re-evaluate your face shape from time to time. To figure out your face shape, you can use a tape measure or ruler and take measurements of different areas on your face.

Haircuts for Rectangle Faces

Rectangle faces have long, straight jawlines that are longer than wide. A good haircut for this type of face shape will add volume around the cheekbones and chin area to make the face appear more balanced.

Recommended hairstyles for rectangle-shaped faces include layers with side-swept bangs, pixie cuts, wavy bobs, and shoulder-length haircuts. Avoid blunt bangs or anything that adds extra length to your face.

Haircuts for Oval Faces

Oval faces are the widest close to the cheeks and taper to a narrow chin. The key to flattering an oval face shape is creating an illusion of width at the forehead while keeping the chin area slightly narrower.

Recommended hairstyles for oval-shaped faces include layered bobs, long layers, shags, and side-parted bangs. Avoid straight fringe or short pixie cuts, as these will make your face appear longer.

Haircuts for Square Faces

Square faces have a strong jawline and angular features. To best flatter this type of face shape, you’ll want to soften the lines of the jawline while adding volume to the sides of the face.

Recommended hairstyles for square-shaped faces include wispy bangs, shoulder-length haircuts with waves or curls, long layers with side-swept bangs, and choppy pixies. Avoid blunt cuts that stop at the chin, as this will draw attention to the jawline.

Haircuts for Round Faces

Round faces have a wider forehead and full cheeks, so the goal is to create an illusion of length. To achieve this, you’ll want to add volume on top while keeping the sides of your face shorter.

Recommended hairstyles for round-shaped faces include long layers with side-swept bangs, pixie cuts with texture, and graduated bobs. Avoid chin-length cuts, as these will make your face appear even rounder.

Haircuts for Diamond Faces

A narrow forehead and jawline with wide cheekbones characterize diamond faces. The goal is to draw attention away from the widest point of your face (the cheeks) and bring it more toward the eyes.

Recommended hairstyles for diamond-shaped faces include choppy pixie cuts, long layered haircuts with side-swept bangs, and shoulder-length cuts with waves. Avoid blunt bangs or anything that adds extra width to your face.

Haircuts for Triangular Faces

Triangular faces have wide jawlines and narrow foreheads. The goal is to create an illusion of width at the forehead while keeping the chin area narrower.

Recommended hairstyles for triangular-shaped faces include short bobs, long layers that start near the chin, and bouffant styles. Avoid anything too short, as this will draw attention to your pointed chin.

What if You Need Help Finding Your Face Shape?

If you’re having trouble figuring out your face shape, you can always consult a Boise hair salon stylist. A good stylist can identify your face shape and recommend the best hairstyle for it. They can also help you choose the best hair products and styling techniques for your particular face shape.

No matter what your face shape is, there’s sure to be a flattering haircut that suits you. With the right cut, you can make the most of your facial features and look your absolute best!

Luckily, there are a number of easy hair tips that can help you keep your new color looking its best. That’s why unDONE would like to provide you with the following Boise hair salon tips for keeping your hair color looking great.

1. Avoid the Sulfates

If you want to keep your hair color looking its best, you should avoid shampoo and other products that contain sulfates. Sulfates can strip away the color from your hair, so it is best to avoid them if possible. There are a number of sulfate-free products on the market, so it should be easy to find one that works for you.

2. Use a Color-Safe Shampoo and Conditioner

When you are washing your hair, you should make sure to use a shampoo and conditioner that are designed for colored hair. These products will help to protect your color and keep it looking its best.

3. Avoid Hot Water

Hot water can also strip away the color from your hair, so it is best to avoid it when you are washing your hair. Instead, stick to lukewarm or cool water. This will help to preserve your color.

4. Avoid Chlorinated Water

If you swim in chlorinated water, you should make sure to wash your hair afterward with a color-safe shampoo and conditioner. Chlorine can strip away the color from your hair, so it is best to avoid it if possible.

5. Limit Your Time in the Sun

Too much sun exposure can cause your hair color to fade, so it is best to limit your time in the sun. If you are going to be in the sun for an extended period of time, make sure to wear a hat or scarf to protect your hair.

6. Use a Heat Protectant

If you use heat styling tools, you should make sure to use a heat protectant. Heat can damage your hair and cause your color to fade, so it is important to take steps to protect your hair. There are a number of heat protectants on the market, so you should be able to find one that works for you.

7. Get Regular Trims

Getting regular trims will help to keep your hair looking its best. Trimming away split ends will help to keep your hair healthy and prevent further damage. Getting regular trims at your Boise hair salon tips will also help to keep your color looking fresh and vibrant.

8. Let Your Hair Air Dry

Whenever possible, you should let your hair air dry. Blow drying your hair can cause your color to fade, so it is best to let your hair air dry whenever possible.

9. Talk to Your Boise Hair Salon Stylist

If you are not sure how to care for your colored hair, you should talk to your stylist. Your stylist will be able to give you specific advice on how to care for your hair type and color. Following these tips will help you keep your hair color looking its best.

10. Wear a Hat or Scarf

Whenever you are going to be in the sun, make sure to wear a hat or scarf. This will help to protect your hair from the sun’s rays and prevent your color from fading.

11. Use a T-Shirt Instead of a Towel

If you want to prevent your color from fading, you should avoid using a towel on your hair. Instead, try using an old t-shirt. The fabric of a t-shirt is much gentler on your hair and won’t cause as much friction.

A Boise Hair Salon Guide to Color Correction

Have you ever gone to a salon in Boise for hair color and been unhappy with the results? Maybe your hair turned out too light or too dark, or maybe the color wasn’t what you were hoping for. If this happens to you, you may need to consider hair color correction.

Hair color correction is a process that can be used to fix botched hair colors or to change the color of your hair if you are not happy with it. That’s why unDONE Salon would like to discuss what hair color correction is and how it can be used to get the results that you want.

What Exactly is Hair Color Correction?

Hair color correction is the process of fixing a hair color that has gone wrong. This can be done for various reasons, such as if your hair turns out too light or dark, if the color is patchy or uneven, or if it just doesn’t look the way you wanted it to.

There are a few different ways that hair color correction can be done, depending on the problem that you are trying to fix. For example, if your hair is too light, a colorist may use a darker shade to even out the color. If your hair is too dark, they may use a lighter shade to brighten it up. And if the color is patchy, they may use a glaze or toner to even it out.

Hair color correction can be a bit of a tricky process, so it is important to consult with a salon in Boise before you make any decisions. At unDONE, we will be able to assess the problem and come up with the best plan of action to fix it.

Why Would I Need Hair Color Correction?

There are a few different reasons why you might need hair color correction. As mentioned above, one reason could be if your hair turns out too light or dark after a coloring session. Another reason could be if the color is patchy or uneven. And finally, another reason could be if you don’t like the results of your hair color and want to change it.

If you find yourself in any of these situations, hair color correction may be the best solution. Again, it is always best to consult a salon in Boise before making any decisions. At unDONE, we will be able to assess the problem and come up with the best plan of action.

How Much Does Hair Color Correction Cost?

The cost of hair color correction can vary depending on a few different factors, such as the severity of the problem, the length of your hair, and where you go to get it done. Generally speaking, hair color correction is a bit more expensive than getting a regular hair color because it is a more involved process. However, the exact cost will depend on the specific situation. If you are considering hair color correction, it is best to consult with a salon in Boise to get an estimate of how much it will cost.

What Should I Expect During the Process?

Hair color correction can be a bit of a lengthy process, so it is important to be prepared for it. Generally speaking, the whole process can take anywhere from two to four hours, depending on the severity of the problem.

During the hair color correction process, your colorist will assess the problem and devise the best action plan to fix it. They may use a variety of techniques, such as using a glaze or toner, or they may need to apply multiple colors to get the results that you want.

It is important to note that hair color correction can be a bit of a tricky process, so it is important to trust your colorist and let them do their job. They will know what needs to be done to fix the problem and get your hair looking its best.

Boise Hair Salon Tips for Transitioning from Brunette to Blonde

Are you considering making the switch from brunette to blonde? If so, you’re in luck! The Boise hair salon stylists at unDONE would like to provide you with all the information you need to make a smooth and successful transition. We’ll talk about the different colors available to you, choosing the right shade for your skin tone, and caring for your new hair color. So whether you’re thinking of going platinum blonde or just lightening up your brown locks, read on for some helpful tips.

Can Anyone Go from Brunette to Blonde?

Contrary to popular belief, almost anyone can go from brunette to blonde. However, it’s important to keep in mind that the final result will depend on a few factors, including your natural hair color and texture, as well as the health of your hair.

If your hair is damaged or overly processed, you may find it difficult to achieve your desired look. In this case, it’s best to consult with a Boise hair salon stylist to see if going blonde is right for you.

What Shades of Blonde Are Available?

There is a wide range of blonde shades available, from platinum to golden blondes. The right shade for you will depend on your skin tone and preference. Ask your stylist for advice if you’re unsure which shade to choose.

If you have fair skin, you may want to try a lighter blonde shade, such as platinum or ash blonde. A golden or caramel blonde may be more flattering if you have olive or dark skin. And if you’re somewhere in between, a honey blonde may be a perfect choice.

How Long Does the Process Take?

The amount of time it takes to transition from brunette to blonde will vary depending on your natural hair color. It may take several sessions to lighten your hair to the desired shade if you have dark brown hair.

If you have light brown hair, the process may be shorter. In general, it’s best to space out your coloring sessions so that your hair has time to recover in between. This will help prevent damage and keep your hair healthy.

How Do I Care for My New Blonde Hair?

Once you’ve transitioned to blonde, taking care of your new hair color is important. Use shampoo and conditioner formulated for color-treated hair, and avoid over-washing, which can strip away moisture and cause your hair to become dry and brittle.

Be sure to use a heat protectant before styling your hair, and use gentle heat-styling methods to avoid damaging your hair. And finally, don’t forget to schedule regular trims to keep your hair looking healthy and blonde for years to come.

What Should You Do Before Your Appointment?

If you’re planning to transition from brunette to blonde, you can do a few things to prepare for your appointment. First, look at pictures of different blonde shades to get an idea of your desired color.

Then, book a free consultation with your Boise hair salon stylist at unDONE to discuss your options and make sure going blonde is right for you. Next, care for your hair in the weeks leading up to your appointment by using a deep conditioning treatment and avoiding heat styling.

A Boise Hair Salon Guide to Gray hair Blending

Gray hairs are common for all kinds of people, old and young. If you’re concerned about upholding a youthful image, you may want to get rid of as many gray hairs as possible. Fortunately, there is a solution.

Gray blending has been used for generations to promote normal hair color in men and women. That’s why unDONE would like to provide you with the following Boise hair salon guide to gray hair blending and explain everything there is to know about this hair color technique.

What is Gray Blending?

Gray blending is a hair color technique that produces a subtle, natural-looking result. The main idea behind gray blending is to use two colors that are similar in tone to create a soft, blended effect.

This technique can be used on its own or in combination with other hair color techniques, such as highlights or lowlights. When done correctly, gray blending can give you beautiful, natural-looking results.

How Does Gray Blending Work?

Gray blending works by using two colors that are similar in tone. The stylist will apply the first color to the roots of your hair and then blend it out into the rest of your hair. They will then apply the second color to your hair, starting at the mid-lengths and blending it to the ends.

The two colors will be blended together using a brush or comb to create a soft, subtle effect. The final result should look natural and gentle like your hair has been softly kissed by the sun.

Is Gray Blending Right for Me?

Gray blending is an excellent technique if you’re looking for low-maintenance hair color. Because the two colors are similar in tone, they will blend together seamlessly and won’t require a lot of touch-ups. Talk to your Boise hair salon stylist about your options if you’re interested in gray blending. They will be able to assess your hair color and texture to determine if this technique is right for you.

Are There Any Risks?

Gray blending is a relatively safe hair color technique. However, as with any hair color service, some risks are involved.

The most common risk is that the two colors may not blend together evenly. This can leave your hair looking patchy or streaky. If this happens, you may need to have your hair colored again to even out the result.

Another risk is that the colors may not perfectly match your skin tone. If this happens, you may have hair that looks too light or dark. Be sure to talk to your stylist about your skin tone before having your hair colored.

Finally, remember that gray blending is a temporary solution. The color will eventually fade, and you’ll need to have it done again. If you’re looking for a more permanent solution, you may want to consider another hair color technique.

Are There Any Alternatives to Gray Blending?

If you’re not interested in gray blending, other hair color techniques can help you cover your gray hair. One popular option is highlights. Highlights are usually done with bleach or high-lift color and can be placed throughout your hair to create a natural-looking result. Lowlights are another option. Lowlights are usually done with a dark dye and are placed throughout your hair to create depth and dimension.

Both highlights and lowlights can be used to cover gray hair and give you beautiful, natural-looking results. Be sure to talk to your Boise hair salon stylist about which technique is right for you.

Schedule a Consultation with unDone Salon

If you’re interested in gray blending or any other hair color technique, schedule a consultation with a Boise hair salon stylist at unDONE. We’ll assess your hair color and texture to determine which technique is right for you. Schedule an appointment online or give us a call at (208) 287-2010 today.

We look forward to helping you achieve your ideal hair color!

Professional Hair Color Vs Box Dye

When it comes to hair color, there are two main options: professional hair color or box dye. Box dye is a more affordable option but can often lead to poor results.

Professional hair color, on the other hand, is more expensive, but it produces much better results. That’s why the Boise hair salon stylists at unDONE would like to compare professional hair color and box dye and discuss the pros and cons of each option.

Box Dyes Don’t Provide Full Results

One of the main problems with box dyes is that they don’t provide full results. This is because they don’t contain all of the necessary ingredients to provide a complete color treatment. As a result, you may end up with uneven color or patches of your natural hair color showing through. Additionally, box dyes often contain harsh chemicals that can damage your hair. These chemicals can strip away your hair’s natural moisture, leaving it dry and brittle.

Box Dyes Don’t Fit All Hair Colors

Another problem with box dyes is that they don’t fit all hair colors. It can be difficult to find a box dye that will provide the desired results if you have very dark hair. Conversely, if you have very light hair, you may have a color that’s too dark for your liking. In either case, it’s best to consult with a Boise hair salon stylist at unDONE to determine which shade would be best for you.

Professional Hair Color Is More Expensive

The biggest downside of professional hair color is that it’s more expensive than box dye. A typical color treatment can cost anywhere from $60 to $200. However, the results are usually worth the price tag. The Boise hair salon stylists at unDONE use high-quality products that are less likely to damage your hair. Additionally, we can custom-mix colors to create a perfect shade for you. And if you’re unhappy with the results, most colorists will offer to fix it for free.

Professional Hairstylists are More Experienced

When it comes to hair color, it’s essential to trust professionals. The Boise hair salon stylists at unDONE have years of experience and training in color theory and application. They know which colors will work best for your skin tone, eye color, and hair type. They can also help you choose a style that compliments your features.

So if you’re thinking about coloring your hair, be sure to visit a professional hairstylist. They’ll help you find the perfect shade and provide expert advice on how to care for your new color.

You Can’t See the Back of Your Head

One of the most difficult parts of coloring your own hair is trying to see the back of your head. This can often lead to missed spots and uneven color. A professional hairstylist will have no problem seeing the back of your head and can ensure that your color is applied evenly.

Professional Hair Dying Also Includes Conditioning

Professional hair color treatments always include a conditioning treatment. This is because the chemicals in hair dye can be very drying. A good conditioning treatment will help to replenish your hair’s moisture and protect it from further damage.

Box Dyes Often Cause Bleed Marks

Another problem with box dyes is that they often cause bleed marks. This happens when the dye bleeds onto your skin, clothing, or towels. Not only is this annoying, but it can also be difficult to remove. If you’re using a box dye, wear an old towel and wear old clothes that you don’t mind getting stained. Also, there is a chance that the dye can seep through your shower cap.

You Might Not Get the Exact Shade You Want

When you use a box dye, you risk not getting the exact shade you want. This is because the colors are often not as true-to-life as they appear on the box. If your heart is set on a specific color, it’s best to consult with a Boise hair salon stylist at unDONE. They can help you find a shade that’s similar to what you’re looking for.

Schedule a Hair Appointment with unDone Salon

If you’re thinking about coloring your hair, we invite you to schedule a hair appointment with us at unDONE. Our Boise hair salon stylists would be more than happy to help you find the perfect color and shade for your features. We also offer a variety of other hair services, such as haircuts, styling, and treatments. Book an appointment online or give us a call at (208) 287-2010 today.

How to Choose a Wedding Hairstyle You’ll Love

It’s the most important day of your life, and you want to look your best. Choosing the right wedding hairstyle is essential to feeling confident on your big day. There are so many different options to choose from, but how do you know which one is right for you?

That’s why the Boise hair salon stylists at unDONE would like to discuss some of the most popular wedding hairstyles and help you decide which one is right for you. We’ll also provide tips on how to care for your hair after the big day is over.

Get Inspiration on Social Media

Social media is one of the best places to get inspiration for your wedding hairstyle. Pinterest and Instagram are great resources for finding pictures of different styles. On these platforms, you can also search for hashtags like #weddinghairstyles or #bridalhair.

Another great way to get inspiration is to look at pictures of celebrities or models with similar hair types. This can help you narrow down your options and find a style that will work well with your natural hair texture.

Talk to Your Stylist

A Boise hair salon stylist at unDONE can guide you on what styles will work best for you based on the length and texture of your hair. They may even be able to suggest some styles that you hadn’t considered. Be sure to bring pictures of the styles you’re considering to your appointment so they can better understand what you’re looking for.

Consider Your Dress

The style of your dress will also play a role in choosing the right wedding hairstyle. An updo may not be the best option if you’re wearing a strapless gown. A simple veil or headpiece can also impact the style of your hair. Be sure to consider these factors when making your decision.

Consider How You Wear Your Hair Everyday

If you don’t usually wear your hair up, you may not want to choose a style that requires much effort to maintain. Feeling like yourself on your wedding day is important, so don’t choose a hairstyle outside your comfort zone.

You should also remember how long it will take to style your hair on the wedding day. If you’re short on time, an updo may not be the best option.

Consider Your Wedding Theme

Your wedding theme can also influence your decision when it comes to choosing a hairstyle. Beachy waves might not be the best choice for a formal ballroom affair.

On the other hand, a sleek updo might not be the best choice if you’re having a rustic outdoor wedding. Consider the overall theme of your wedding when making your decision.

Remember That Your Wedding Hairstyle Should Make You Feel Confident

Above all else, you should choose a hairstyle that makes you feel confident. It’s your big day, and you should feel like the best version of yourself. If you’re unsure about a particular style, trust your gut and go with something else.

Consider Hair Extensions

If you’re having trouble finding a style you love, you may want to consider hair extensions. Extensions can help add volume and length to your hair, giving you more options when choosing a wedding hairstyle. Consult your stylist to see if extensions are right for you.

Take Your Time

Choosing the right wedding hairstyle is important, so take your time and don’t rush into anything. Try out different styles and consult with your stylist until you find the perfect one for you.

Learn About the Different Types of Wedding Hairstyles

Now that you know some of the things to consider when choosing a wedding hairstyle let’s take a look at some of the most popular styles.

  • Updos: Updos are a classic choice for weddings. They can be worn with or without veils and headpieces and can be styled in many different ways.

Introducing the New Hair Frosting Technique at unDONE!

Although we are still early into 2022, stylists around the world have been predicting and coming up with plenty of hairstyle trends that are gaining popularity. These include everything from French glossing to the modern mullet and more. However, there’s one LA-inspired look that is starting to gain traction — and it’s set to take over as one of the most requested hair colors at our Boise salon. Introducing… Hair frosting!

What is Hair Frosting?

Created by Stuart Marsh, an award-winning color director at Taylor Taylor London, hair frosting shouldn’t be confused with the 90s boy band frosted tips. Instead, today’s hair frosting consists of bleaching individual hair strands to a cool blonde shade from root to tip, leaving nearby darker strands untouched. This hair color technique creates a multifaceted look that creates a subtle contrasting effect. As these lightened strands fall among darker hair, it resembles the frosty look of trees in the winter — hence the term’ hair frosting’.

Hair Frosting Vs. Balayage

Balayage is one of the most popular hair color techniques of the past decade. However, there’s a huge difference between hair frosting and balayage. While hair frosting and balayage are both hair lightening techniques that don’t require coloring every single strand of hair, frosting provides you with a more muted, subtle effect. On the other hand, Balayage means ‘sweep’, in French, so hair is lightened in much larger sections.

Keep in mind that frosting incorporates small, cool-blonde tones to contrast with the darker hair around it. Not only is it easier to maintain, but it can also create full layers of color with a detailed finish that doesn’t appear overdone. This makes it an excellent hair color option for those who want something easy to manage without high commitment.

Hair Frosting is Customizable

Want to know the best part about hair frosting? It’s completely customizable depending on how your hair falls naturally or which style you prefer to rock. This makes it perfect for all hair types and textures, providing you take care of it. However, it’s important to keep in mind that bleached hair is more prone to becoming dry and brittle. That’s why it’s important to wash your hair less (every other day), so you maintain your natural oils instead of stripping them. You should also cut back on heat styling and use a hydrating deep conditioner like Davines NOUNOU Hair Mask to help reverse damage and protect weakened, bleached hair.

How to Achieve the Perfect Look

Hair frosting is all about achieving a dainty softness — and it’s going to be extremely popular this year. At unDONE, we recommend taking some pictures of some hair frosting styles for inspiration ahead of your Boise salon appointment. You should also ask your stylist to add cool tones that contrast your darker hair and explain that you would like to create a more muted look than traditional highlights.
