Boise Hair Salon: Summer Brazilian Blowouts

With summer now upon us, so is the season for frizzy, unruly hair. But what if there was a way to maintain smooth, frizz-free, hair all summer long? Enter the Brazilian Blowout! A Brazilian Blowout is a Boise hair salon treatment that can reduce frizz and create smooth, glossy hair and more. That’s why unDONE Salon would like to provide you with some important answers to your burning questions about this preferred smoothing treatment.

What Is A Brazilian Blowout?

A Brazilian Blowout is a formula of liquid keratin that bonds to your hair to create a protective layer around each and every strand. This treatment effectively diminishes frizz while sealing the hair cuticle, and providing armor against any external damage. Once your hair has been treated, it will be ultra hydrated, frizz-free, and more resilient to hot styling tools — not to mention, you’ll have super glossy, mirror-like shine.

Will It Straighten My Hair?

This depends on your individual preference. Your Boise hair salon stylist will seal the treatment using a hot flat iron, and the more they iron, the straighter your hair will be. If you like your hair curly, the Brazilian Blowout will help tame your frizz and make it more manageable without killing your curls. Just be sure to talk to your stylist about the goals you want to achieve, and they will tailor the treatment to your preferences. The overall goal of the Brazilian Blowout is to make your hair beautiful and less of a burden to work with.

Is It Safe?

Yes! In fact, the Brazilian Blowout treatment is safe on any hair type and helps to improve moisture and shine levels. While no treatment is 100% risk-free with any chemical processing, the chances for any reaction are very, very small. In fact, the only situation in which breakage may occur is when a stylist uses the flat iron. That’s why you’ll want to make sure to inform your Boise hair salon stylist if your hair can’t take a lot of heat.

How Long Does The Process Take?

Overall, the Brazilian Blowout process takes up to 2 -3 hours depending on how long your hair is and how thick it is. Your Boise hair salon stylist will begin by thoroughly shampooing your hair to remove any existing product residues and create a base for the treatment to adhere. The Brazilian Blowout formula will then be applied from root to tip, working section by section before being blow-dried smooth. A flat iron will then be used to seal it in before you’re headed back to the shampoo bowl to rinse out the treatment and condition your hair. Finally, your Boise hair salon stylist will once again blow dry your hair smooth.

How Long Will It Last?

Provided upon the advice of your Boise hair salon stylist about what products you should use while avoiding shampoos that contain sulfates or chlorine, your treatment should last 3-4 months. Once it wears off, your hair will return to its natural state.

What About Color-Treated Hair?

A Brazilian Blowout is completely safe on color-treated hair. Since it completely seals the hair shaft, it can actually preserve your color longer. In fact, we’ve even had clients got their hair color done and followed it up with a Brazilian Blowout in the same day. However, it’s important to inform your colorist if you plan on doing this so they can adjust each process accordingly.

What Should You Do After The Treatment?

Unlike other Boise hair salon treatments, there isn’t a whole lot of restrictions when it comes to what you can and can’t do. Additionally, since the treatment is rinsed out by your Boise hair salon stylist, you can wait as long or as little to wash your hair. Keep in mind, however, it’s important to use a sulfate and chlorine free shampoo to preserve the lifespan of your Brazilian Blowout.
