2014 was a big year for unDONE as Kimberli Denton and her team of unDONE stylists traveled to Chiang Rai, Thailand to work with other Destiny Rescue volunteers in an effort  to help change lives overseas while providing industry training to young girls who are rescued from sex trafficking or sexual exploitation.

Upon visiting the girls in Chiang Rai, I found myself asking, “Why?” Why in America do we often turn a blind eye to these children. What is it that makes us any better than them? The only difference is that they were born into a society in need of better education. They are hard working people, and there is no welfare to support them. Their only means of survival is to work as education is rarely available. I understand that while those in need of help choose to live, they did not choose to live the lives they were given, and it hurts my heart knowing there are really no answers to any of my questions.” – Kimberli Denton

This year, unDONE will be partnering with Visual Effects Salon & Spa, and Graffiti Hair Salon to raise money for the “Hair for Care” campaign – a non-profit organization created by Kimberli Denton and formed by a group of hair stylist’s for a cause they believe in through various means such as cut-a-thons, raffles and donations. During the entire month of August 2015, raffle tickets can be purchased at all three salon locations in order to help raise money for the Kampong Cham Project.

In an effort to help provide for these children’s futures, raffle tickets for gift baskets will be sold at $5.00 apiece. The drawing will be held the first week in September, and the winners will be notified.

About the Kampong Cham Project

Since hair & beauty is often a sought-after vocation for many girls in Cambodia and is a popular choice of vocational training for rescued children, Destiny Rescue currently has 10 girls in their Kampong Cham home who want to begin a training course and work towards being employed once they complete the Destiny Rescue program. All proceeds and money raised from the raffle will go towards helping these girls pay their training fees, their small salary, provide transport and cover needed materials they will use during their training course.

The school is a three month course where the girls get a basic education in country-specific skills to prepare them for a future career in hair and beauty. In Cambodia that means teaching not just hairstyling but nail technology and make-up skills. This course is taught in a classroom environment by an enthusiastic teacher, giving the girls excitement for their education. But more than skills, the girls learn confidence in the classroom, belief in their ability to do good work and excel in their chosen profession.

Working in hair and beauty in Cambodia can be difficult but the girls in Destiny Rescue’s program have an advantage.

Traditionally, girls who enter these salons must work for a year to complete their training, but  Destiny Rescue girls only need six months because the salons know they’ve already received such a solid foundation from the Destiny Rescue school. Upon finishing, the girls will then possess some of the highest skills in their field.

Mission Blog #2

October 12th, 2014 is fast approaching & unDONE is getting excited about our upcoming Destiny Rescue trip to Chaing Rai,Thailand! By partnering with INsideOUT, we were able to raise over $1500 to help change lives overseas while supporting our Treasure Valley community with back-to-school haircuts! THANK YOU!

As you many know, owner Kimberly Denton, and her team of unDONE stylists will be working with other Destiny Rescue volunteers in an effort to provide industry training to young girls while supporting those in need. In turn, the training we provide will not only offer new trades but will shape new lives for those affected by human trafficking in an effort to break the cycle of poverty while investing in people’s worth, and loving them!

With your donations you’ve become a part of the “Take a Stand for Freedom” team by saying “no” to children being trafficked and sexually exploited. The money raised will not only help provide vocational training to those in need but offers educational opportunities for children & their families as well.

Feel good knowing that by helping families become self-sustaining, we eliminate one of the main reasons children are being trafficked. These resources also enable us to teach and educate parents about the dangers of prostitution and the known methods used by traffickers to trick children.

Rescue! Restore! Protect!  Empower! Be a voice!

Mission –

RESTORE the abused

Destiny Rescue provides rescued children the intensive care and love they need to recover from the traumatic effects of sexual abuse and sexual exploitation. We provide them medical help, counseling, schooling, vocational training and all daily needs required to be integrated back into society successfully. In addition, we provide a safe protective place for them to live, grow and experience the unconditional love of God – a place where they can feel valued and esteemed; a place where they can be kids again.

PROTECT the vulnerable

Destiny Rescue offers programs that help at-risk children and families reduce their children’s chances of being sold, lured or trafficked into the sex-trade.

EMPOWER the poor

Destiny Rescue believes in empowering the poor and giving them a hand up in life, not a handout. Our philosophy and goal is to help them become self-sustaining through one of our many assistance programs. Simply put, we don’t want to create a welfare system where children and families become dependent on our organization, but rather have a chance to become profitable through hard work and common sense.

BE A VOICE for the voiceless

Destiny Rescue is committed to being a voice for the sexually exploited, vulnerable and poor who, in most cases, can’t speak up for themselves. We believe everyone has a right to be heard, especially those crying out for justice. Many times they are overlooked or tossed aside by society, but we are determined to be their voice – motivating and inspiring influencers to get involved and make a difference in the lives of the voiceless.
